Notes on N6ESV emergency response supply list - Every time I see a partial list of emergency response items, I add something that I should have thought of to my list and wonder if anyone will ever put together the "perfect" list. Here's my imperfect offering...... Several notes: I keep a small parts box that I refuse to inventory. It has coax connectors, adaptors from everything to everything else, crimp connectors, wing nuts, fuses, nickels and dimes, and everything else imaginable that's under two inches long. I list it as "small parts" to remind me not to forget the box. I also refuse to inventory "small tools" and "large tools". ESV's 58th law of emergency response is that the end connector on the coax that the other Ham ran from the roof antenna to the radio room won't plug into your radio. I now keep a plugged in set of coax adaptors in each radio box. Since I can never remember which PL or SO 238 or 239 is which, I'll do it this way: RG8 MM to RG8 FF to RG8 M - BNC F to BNC M 45degree - BNC F to BNC MM. All together it has an ugly look but it's easy to see if something's missing, and it hasn't let me down yet. The check list has a check off line for each item. That makes it easier to load up quickly (if my shack is clean, which it usually isn't). There are also some duplicates between the boxes. That's because I can never find a flashlight (and other things) when I need one.
